The new Bangalow skatepark shelter is made entirely of formed concrete. The form reflects the dynamism of the activity it supports. The structure soars above the skate park providing respite from the elements as well as becoming a ‘skate-able’ piece of furniture in the park. The concrete seats and table are fitted with ‘grind-able’ metal rails allowing skaters to launch out of the bowl. The project stands as a testament to a group of people with an idea who were willing to work for nothing.
The community raised $11,000 which was put towards the steel and formwork of the structure. Architects, Engineers, and Builder all worked pro bono.
