Located in the old heritage precinct of Byron, a 1900s Queenslander was relocated to the site. We decided to treat the old house as a ‘remix album’. To strip it back to the bones, and reassemble the bits in new ways. A ‘sustainable jigsaw puzzle’ of sorts.
The house bridges the nexus between the old and new ‘Byron Lifestyle’. It reflects on the past while also providing cues on how we can build sensitively into the future. It’s fully ‘off grid’ and was awarded the most Sustainable House in NSW 2021 by the Institute of Architects.
